A Guide to Benidorm

Benidorm is a coastal city located in the comarca of La Marina Baja. It is a very busy tourist destination, by far the largest on the Costa Blanca, and while some may find it a bit overwhelming, it is a great place to find not only serious summer festivities but also a great location from which to explore a lot of what the northern Costa Blanca has to offer.

Hot Summers

To quote another write-up about Benidorm, Benidorm, north of Alicante, is the party capital of the Costa Blanca with an unrivalled nightlife and a daytime carnival-like beach culture.

Benidorm has a permanent population of 61,352 (2002 census) inhabitants, however in the summer this number can exceed half a million people, making it one of the most important holiday resorts in Spain.

A small fishing village until the 1960's, today Benidorm stands out for its hotel industry, beaches and summer life, skyscrapers (Benidorm has more skyscrapers, 35m +, than any other city in Europe except for London and Milan) and has a cosmopolitan feel. Benidorm has three major beaches, each of which has a blue flag: Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas (a blue flag is the maximum rank granted by the European Union).
