Tourist offices

The main office (tel 96-520-00-00, email touristinfo.alicante@turisme.m400.gva.es, Rambla Méndez Núñez 23; open 10am-7.30pm Mon-Fri & 10am-2pm/3pm-7.30pm Sat Sept16-Jun15, 10am-8pm Mon-Sat Jun16-Sept15) is supplemented by offices at the airport, bus station, main train station, city hall and during the summer, at the Playa del Postiguet.

Banks and ATM's

Money Banks and ATM's are scattered throughout Alicante. To change travellers cheques, your best option is the BBVA (Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio 12) next to the Mercado Central. Western Union is available at the main post office (see Post & Communications).

Post & Communications

The main post office (Calle Arzobispo Loaces 10; open 8.30am-8.30pm Mon-Fri, 9.30am-2pm Sat) operates Alicante's lista de correos (poste restante) service.

M.D.Q. Line Locutorio (tel 96-521-26-92, Calle Poeta Campos Vassallo 9; open 9.30am-3.30pm Mon-Sat, 5pm-11.30pm daily) is one of the few places that charge under €1.75/hour for internet access. They also offer telephone services.

Bookshops

Visit FNAC (tel 96-601-01-00, Avenida Estación 5-7; open 10am-10pm Mon-Sat, 12pm-10pm Sun) for Alicante's best selection of English language novels, maps and guide books.

Laundry

Strangely, there is a complete absence of public laundry facilities. However, most accommodation options will do your laundry for about €6 a load.

Medical Services & Emergency

In case of an emergency, dial tel 112 for police, fire or ambulance. Hospital de Alicante (tel 96-593-83-00, Calle Maestro Alonso 109) is 1.6 km north of the Mercado Central.

Call Objetos Perdidos (tel 96-514-99-69).
