The primary cities of this region are Elche, it capital, Crevillente and Santa Pola. Besides tourism, this area relies on industries such as carpets and rugs.

Elche

As the capital city of el Baix Vinalopo, Elche has much to offer, not the least of which being the Elche Palm Grove, a forest of over 200,000 palm trees that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

Santa Pola

Boasting a 16th Century castle in the centre of the town (now a museum), Santa Pola is a pretty coastal city with a relaxing Mediterranean lifestyle. It boasts many plazas and a lot of beachfront, including the Gran Playa, it's most popular beach, a nature reserve formed of fossilized coral reef, access to the small touristic island of Tabarca, and the nearvy salt flats where you can spot migratory Flamingos (one of only a few places in the world).
