Alicante Airport - 'El Altet'
General Layout
The airport in Alicante is the 7th busiest airport in Spain and has received over 8 million yearly visitors in 2003 and 2004.
The airport consists of three levels: the lowermost arrival level where car hire facilities are also located, then up to the check in level and then up to the departure level. It also has short and long term parking, car hire facilities, several cafes and bars as well as a chemist (pharmacy).
Arrivals
The Arrivals level is the lowermost level in the airport, consisting of the waiting lounge for the general public which includes a cafe/bar and the pharmacy or chemist. Car rental facilities are also available on this level, some of which are located in an area just prior to where the passengers exit to meet the public.
Check in
The check in level consists of offices and kiosks for various airlines as well as the check in facilities, a cafe/bar and a bank machine (ATM).
Be sure and check the televisions immediately inside the doors of the check in level, as when the airport is busy it can be hard to move around and access the main information board on this level.
Departures Level
The public side of the departure level consists of a small well stocked book-magazine-gift store, a restaurant and a cafe/bar. Once past security, there is ample space and facilities including food and duty free shopping.
Bus to Alicante
Alcoyana-SuBús' (tel 96-526-84-00) bus No C6 runs between the airport and Alicante city. The airport stop is in front of Arrivals between the terminal and the parking lot. In Alicante the bus stops at Plaza Del Mar, Plaza de los Luceros, the bus station (C/Portugal 17) and Politécnico de Babel.
For up to date fare and scheduling information, check the official website, choosing 'aeropuerto' from the 'Lineas que Realiza...' dropdown menu.
Car Hire and Rentals
Located on the lower level (the arrivals level) you can find the offices for different car hire companies including Avis (965 286 579), ATESA (965 682 526), Centauro (965 286 579), Europcar (965 682 770), Europa Car (965 683 362), Hertz (966 919 125), Sol-Mar (966 919 280), Auriga (965 687 918) and Record Rent a Car (966 919 016).
Airport Parking
Short term
There is short term parking available at the airport, with rates of 0,80 €/hour (7,65 € is the daily maximum).
The parking can get quite full during busy hours, and a good tip would be to head directly to the second level if things are too hectic, as many people don't know that it exists. To get to the second level once you are in the parking area, keep straight to the center of the lot and turn left away from the airport. Near the back of the lot you will find the ramp to the second level, where elevators will make it easy for you to get your baggage up an down.
Long term parking at the Alicante airport
There are several long term parking lots available: Roberto Torrellano parking (609 614 297), Claus Parking (965 68 09 41), Global Cars (966 49 03 56), Lucadi (965 68 75 10), Parking "Oskars" (965 68 52 00), Royal Parking (965 68 33 60), New Parking "El Altet" (965 97 02 97), Aupa parking (96 568 77 16).
